12:30 - 1:30 pm: Meet-up @ Focus Boardshop, Madison. Sign Waivers, grab some coffee, check out the shop.
1:30: Bus leaves for Cascade
2:00: Arrive at Cascade. Equipment rental - Gear up
2:00 - 2:30: Check in at Tube Town party room for those not arriving by bus.
2:40: On-Snow Orientation, Group Photo, Split into ride groups (shack next to Peak Lodge)
3:00-3:50: Beginner Lessons led by the Boardslide Crew
5:00-6:00: Group Meal in Peak Lodge upstairs (bring sack lunch or purchase food at Cascade)
7:00 pm: start returning rental gear
7:00-7:30: Check out/return gear in Tube Town party room for those not departing by bus.
7:30 pm: Bus leaves Cascade
8:00 pm: Arrive back at Focus Boardshop

The old adage is that snowboarding is harder to learn and easier to master, and skiing is the opposite. Also, snowboarding is typically a bit rougher on the body for a beginner, as more balance is required to stay upright. Be prepared to fall a lot if you are learning to snowboard. Skiing (or even snowtubing) may be a better option for anyone who has back/knee/wrist issues.

Ticket types are not customizable. Pricing is based on group discounted rates that include minimum purchase requirements, and averaged to help cover subsidized tickets.

We highly recommend dressing in warm, flexible clothing, with water-proof outerlayers. Standard snow gear includes wool socks, warm baselayers, snowpants, weather proof coat, weather proof gloves, neck gator, and goggles. Rental helmets are insulated so thin hats under them are optional. Baselayers don’t need to be fancy. Yoga pants, sweatpants, hoodies, etc. work just fine. Layers are also a good idea, so you can pare down if you get too warm.

Yes! We have a very limited stock of water proof coats, snowpants, gloves, goggles, wool socks, and neck gators. Inquire about borrowing items via the registration form.

We rent a school bus from Lamer’s. The bus is super fun, and makes the experience feel like queer day camp. We will also run a short orientation and pull raffle winners on the bus. However, the bus can be a bit noisy, so if you have sound sensitivities, you may opt to drive yourself and meet us at Cascade. If that’s your preference, indicate that in the notes section of your registration.

Snowtubing is an accessible alternative to skiing or snowboarding. Although it is far less physically demanding than other methods of sliding on snow, there are a few physical requirements necessary to enjoy the activity. Those include the following:
Ability to walk on uneven snowy surfaces without hand railings. *Must provide your own snowboots with traction.
Ability to step onto, stand on, step off of, and stabilize oneself on a slow-moving walkway traversing uphill without hand railings.
Ability to sit down onto and lift yourself out of an inner tube that is resting on the ground.
While tubing, rider must remain seated on tube and able to secure themselves by grasping tube handles with hands.
Ability to walk up and down roughly 20 stairs at a time at resort.
